Star Wars: Epic New Darth Maul Clone Wars Trailer

Tomorrow night's episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars kicks off a big four-part storyline for the series, which features the return of Darth Maul.

USA Today first debuted a new trailer for this storyline, which is a direct continuation of one of the show's best storylines so far – the three part arc in Season 3 that introduced Savage Opress. Opress, Count Dooku, Asajj Ventress and the Nightsisters all will play a part in this storyline, as Opress' quest to find his brother, Darth Maul, comes to a head.

For those wondering, yes, it looks like Maul is sporting a version of the robotic legs he's had in some Star Wars comic books. Check out the trailer below!

Clone Wars supervising director Dave Filoni tells USA Today that when it comes to Maul's previous portrayal in The Phantom Menace, "We saw the warrior, definitely. But what we weren't as aware of was how trained Darth Maul was — not fighting using the ways of the Dark Side, but his intellect and his cunning as he learned from Darth Sidious." Filoni also says the circumstances of Maul's survival will be dark and dramatic.

The Darth Maul storyline begins on Star Wars: The Clone Wars with the episode "Massacre," airing Friday, February 24th at 8pm on Cartoon Network.
