Apple now getting iPad Retina displays from LG too

Apple has begun to get additional supply of the new iPad's 9.7-inch Retina screen from LG Display, a DisplaySearch analyst told CNET.

To date, Samsung has been the sole supplier of the 2,048x1,536 display, the new iPad's marquee feature.

"LG is pre-qualified. So in February they shipped a few hundred thousand units," said Richard Shim, an analyst at DisplaySearch. "That is the typical cadence. You do a few hundred thousand units one month and then a few million after that," he said.

"And right now, Apple needs everything they can get," he added.

iCEO: Cuddle with a Steve Jobs plush

You might remember the recent saga of the Steve Jobs action figure. It was announced. Detailed pictures surfaced. Apple wasn't pleased. The action figure was canceled.

There's a new Steve Jobs toy on the block, and this one might stand a better chance of making it into your hands.

The iCEO comes courtesy of Throwboy, a pillow company known for tech-related products like Facebook-themed pillows and text messaging pillows with "OMG" and "wtf" on them.

The iCEO is unmistakeably Steve Jobs, even though his name doesn't appear anywhere on the product page. The plush features gray hair, a black turtleneck, blue jeans, and stubble.

Apple stock to hit $600 today? Tomorrow? Friday?

Let the guessing game begin.

On December 23, 2011, Apple shares closed the day trading at $403.33. Less than two months later, this past February 13, the shares finished at $502.60. If you thought that was a steep climb, consider this: the company's stock price reached $594.72 earlier today, putting it within easy distance of $600.

With Apple's latest iPad going on sale in a couple of days, another catalyst for the latest move came from Morgan Stanley. Analyst Katy Huberty lifted her target to $720 from $515. She also offered the bull case scenario more

New rumor adds to 15-inch MacBook Air chatter

Apple is once again said to be on the brink of releasing a larger version of its thinnest notebook computer.

Adding to the chatter of new sizes for the MacBook Air, Electric Pig weighed in today, saying Apple has a 15-inch version due next month. That information comes courtesy of a "premium Mac accessory maker," which the outlet talked to at the Computers Unlimited: Exposed show in London yesterday.

That company was not named, but is apparently a "key player in MacBook docking solutions." Looking at the show's exhibitor list, it's likely Henge Docks, which has docks for more

Verizon currently has about 200 sites around the U.S. covering 200 million Americans. With the new rollout, the company hopes to have 260 million Americans covered.

If Verizon can pull that off, it'll put the company far ahead of its chief competitor, AT&T;, which only more

iPad and Kindle Fire both strong in recent quarter, says IDC

Lest we forget, Apple still has some competition. Though IDC confirmed big shipment numbers for Apple, the market researcher said Amazon made a good showing too.

Will skinny MacBooks get beefy graphics?

Will Apple put brawny graphics in its upcoming lean laptops? One chip site claims it's not looking good.

A chip-centric site is dropping not-so-subtle hints that some of Apple's upcoming thin laptops may be bereft of a separate graphics chip.

Today, Apple's thinnest laptop line, the MacBook Air, comes with stock Intel graphics silicon, built right into the processor. But that hasn't always been the case. First, a little history.

Apple accuses Proview of 'misleading' courts over iPad

In its most detailed statement yet regarding its battle over the ownership of the iPad trademark in China, Apple said Proview International was deliberately "misleading" Chinese courts.

Proview tricked Apple into signing a carefully crafted agreement in 2009 that has raised questions over the trademark's rightful owner in China, Apple spokeswoman Carolyn Wu said in a statement cited by The Wall Street Journal. She went on to say that the troubled company was trying to exploit that situation to extract more money from Apple.

"Proview clearly made that arrangement so they wouldn't have to give the money to more

Here's why apps won't be ready for the new iPad

Last week Apple showed off the new iPad's higher-resolution display and showcased a series of new apps that take advantage of those added pixels. If you have an iPad, I'm sure you're relishing the chance to see the new display in action, but before you get too excited, don't expect to get the full experience on day one.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but don't be surprised if some of your favorite apps aren't ready to hit the ground running, even if you are.
