Deadline has dropped some cool news on our laps this pilot season. Back in September we reported that Kevin Williamson (creator; Scream, The Vampire Diaries) had sold a new project to FOX about "a diabolical serial killer who uses technology to create a cult of serial killers."

Apparently, Kevin Bacon (X-Men: First Class, Footloose, dozens of awesome movies) is going to star in this untitled pilot as the retired FBI profiler who's caught in the middle of this killer's nefarious schemes. Many are wondering why Bacon, who many execs have tried to nab for TV shows over the years, finally decided to give a series a shot. Well, if the series does manage to get picked up by FOX (it's still just a pilot right now), Bacon will commit to starring in just 15 episodes - versus the regular 22 for a standard full season of network TV. Why? Well to lighten the load, allow him to do other film projects as they come up, and allow him to spend more time with his family.

This may also mean that there will only be 15 episodes of this series planned for its first season instead of 22, as we've recently seen FOX -- who have limited primetime space -- do with new series such has Terra Nova and Alcatraz, which both got thirteen-hour orders, creating shorter, cable-inspired season of TV.

Of course, Bacon is no stranger to serial killers, having starred in the very first Friday the 13th film where he fell for the timeless "stab you from under your spoiled mattress while you're relaxing and smoking some weed" gag.

And hey, we all know that title "Jason Voorhees kills Kevin Bacon" is incorrect, right? C'mon, YouTube. Get your s*** together!
