We already knew The Walking Dead was returning on February 12th, but AMC today revealed the rest of their spring debut dates today at the TCA (Television Critics Association) press tour.
First and foremost, Mad Men is back on March 25th! Confirming the date leaked recently by star Jon Hamm, the critically adored show – off the air since 2010 – will return for Season 5 with a two-hour premiere, beginning at 9pm. On April 1st, the show returns to its regular 10pm timeslot, with an episode directed by Hamm.
April 1st will also see the season premiere of The Killing at 8pm, a show coming back with far less joy and far more to prove than Mad Men, after a season finale last year that left many outright angry. The Killing will also have a two-hour premiere, and then return to its regular 9pm timeslot the following week.
AMC's new reality series, Comic Book Men, from Kevin Smith -- centered around his New Jersey comic book store, Secret Stash -- will debut on February 12th, the same night The Walking Dead resumes its second season. Comic Book Men will debut at 10pm, immediately after The Walking Dead at 9. The Walking Dead discussion show, Talking Dead, will air at midnight ET.
AMC also revealed at TCA that the already-announced Walking Dead: Season 3 will be expanded to 16 episodes from Season 2's 13 episodes.
Update: For those wondering about Breaking Bad, AMC's Joel Stillerman said the show will be back in "third quarter," likely meaning a June or July premiere date.
