I had a great chat with producer Rick McCallum today about his new film Red Tails (look for that story soon). McCallum, of course, is George Lucas' main man, having helped create, among other things, the Star Wars prequels, The Clone Wars cartoon and the oft-discussed live-action TV series that has yet to be produced.
Of course, I had to ask McCallum about the status of that show today. The would-be series already has 50 scripts written, just sitting on the shelf waiting for an economically sound way to actually be produced. We talked about the challenges of making that happen, and along the way McCallum mentioned the "working title" for the show as well…
Star Wars: Underworld. It has a nice ring to it, eh? And of course, it is in keeping with everything we've heard about the series so far -- bounty hunters, Godfather comparisons, and all the rest of it. It remains to be seen when -- or if -- the show will get made, but in the meantime we can obsess over the title anyway!
Check out what George Lucas told us about the series in 2010:
