By Nick Winter | PC News | Feb 4, 2012 5:33 AM | Comment

South Park isn't the only animated TV show morphing into an RPG video game later this year. The crude, potty-mouthed characters of Family Guy are also getting the RPG treatment via a new free-to-play browser game called Family Guy Online. Want to know more? Check out the exclusive trailer from IGN after the jump, and marvel as players embark on such noble quests as chasing greased naked men as they run down city streets. Yes, really. This is Family Guy, after all. Read More »

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning "Speed Run" Takes 200 Hours

By Nick Winter | PC News | Feb 4, 2012 4:46 AM | Comment

Yes, you read that headline correctly. The team behind the upcoming RPG, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, have revealed that a recent "speed run" of all the game's content, including the main quest and all side quests, took about 200 hours to complete. What's more, this playthrough did not include watching cut-scenes or reading dialogue. Wow. How long will it take the average gamer to reach a 100% completion rate, you ask? I would wager an eternity... multiplied by at least two. Read More »

Star Wars: The Old Republic Files Reveal BioWare's Plans for Future Patch Updates

By Nick Winter | PC News | Feb 4, 2012 4:17 AM | Comment

Spoiler warning! I repeat: spoiler warning! If you're happily grinding away on Star Wars: The Old Republic, and enjoying its (fairly linear) plot twists and turns, then please don't read this post, because it may very well spoil your experience. If, however, you're interested in finding out how EA might update the MMORPG in upcoming patches, then read on young Jedi, because a bunch of tireless and hard-working fans over at TORhead have found some intriguing hints as to where the game may be heading in the future. Battlefield 3 DLC Announcement Coming Next Week

By Nick Winter | PC News | Feb 4, 2012 3:41 AM | Comment

During a conference call earlier this week, EA revealed some interesting information about Battlefield 3. Not only has the game sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, making it the second most popular FPS of 2011 (no awards for guessing which was the most popular), but BF3 fans can look forward to a DLC announcement in the very near future. What could the next BF3 DLC pack possibly include? Well... we don't know, to be honest. But that's not going to stop me from making wild and ill-informed speculative guesses after the jump! Weekend Conquest: Crusader Kings II Demo Released

By Dan Stapleton | PC News | Feb 3, 2012 5:00 PM | Comment

Want to conquer something this weekend? You can't save or play multiplayer, but the Crusader Kings II demo will let you take over a big chunk of medieval Europe with the power of turn-based strategy and conspiracy. Given Paradox's recent history of somewhat buggy releases, it's a really good idea to test drive a demo before buying. Give it a shot, and let us know what you think in the comments. Read More »

BioWare Advises That It "Wouldn't Be a Bad Idea" to Keep Your Mass Effect 3 Saves

By Nathan Grayson | PC News | Feb 3, 2012 2:31 PM | Comment

Shepard's final showdown with the Reapers (presumably involving pistols at dawn and copious space tumbleweeds) is nearly at hand, and well, the word "final" doesn't really leave much room for interpretation. Over. Done. Finished. Kaput. Or at least, you'd think so. Those words, however, are somewhat at odds with "giant mega-franchise that saves the universe from having too much money." So, of course, BioWare wants to keep it going. But how? Read More »

Bethesda Dates Skyrim Creation Kit for Tuesday, Hints at Extra "Special Surprise"

By Nathan Grayson | PC News | Feb 3, 2012 2:29 PM | Comment

What could be better than the power to shape an entire world as you see fit? A surprise, of course! Sure, come February 7, you'll be able to bend Skyrim to your every dragon-battling, cheese-wheel-rolling whim, but who can resist the mysterious allure of a surprise? "For our Skyrim PC fans, the Creation Kit is on track for release on Tuesday. And, we also have a special surprise with it," tweeted Bethesda's Pete Hines. So, what do you think it is? I'm hoping for a shout that unleashes a herd of especially aggressive bunnies. Or better companion AI. Whichever. Read More »

Preview: Hands On with Total War: Shogun 2 - Fall of the Samurai

By Dan Stapleton | PC Previews | Feb 3, 2012 2:18 PM | Comment

Guns? So hot right now. Fighting wars with pointy things was all the rage in 16th century Japan, but a couple hundred years later, as Western influence brought political strife and fancy new technology to the country, firearms and cannons took Japan by storm. The very arrival of that technology provided an occasion to use it. Read More »

Natural Selection 2 Trailer Has Gorillas, Jetpacks

By Nathan Grayson | PC News | Feb 3, 2012 2:00 PM | Comment

I feel the need to apologize. I have lured you into this dangerous word jungle under false pretenses. There aren't any actual gorillas in the latest Natural Selection 2 trailer. Probably because -- based on the selection of marine-mashing beasties on display here -- gorillas went extinct from sheer terror. Who needs damn dirty apes, though, when you can have a giant, triceratops-like Onos, aka "the gorilla"? And that's only the tip of the writhing, acid-spitting iceberg. I, for instance, find myself especially intrigued by the playable creature whose eyes are apparently inside its mouth. Marines, meanwhile, can now flee in terror using jetpacks, turning the game into some amazing-looking RTS/RPG/Tribes hybrid. And hey, you need only pre-order the game to access the beta. So, on that note, bye. Maybe forever. Read More »

1UP Predicts the Superbowl Outcome in Skyrim

By Dan Stapleton | PC News | Feb 3, 2012 1:13 PM | Comment

Traditonally, EA has predicted the winner of the Superbowl using the latest Madden game. Boring! This year, 1UP has a much more entertaining (if lopsided) method of determining where to place our bets: a Skyrim battle. On one side, representing the Patriots, are a team of Skyrim's own nationalistic faction, the Stormcloaks. On the other: an equivalent number of literal giants. Who will win? Watch the video after the jump. Read More »

Cyanide Provides Another Peek at Game of Thrones

By Mike Sharkey | PC News | Feb 3, 2012 7:25 AM | Comment

Cyanide's first attempt at a Game of Thrones videogame, the RTS Genesis, disappointed for a number of reasons, not the least of which was the fact it didn't feature the characters fans of the franchise have come to know and love in the books and the HBO miniseries. That will change with the upcoming Game of Thrones RPG, Cyanide promises, but the devs still aren't ready to show us any Starks or Lannisters. See what the studio is ready to share in the new Game of Thrones Riverspring trailer within. Read More »
