Did you really want to see Elfquest on the big screen? Well, that ain't happening now and The Hobbit is to blame.
The feature film version of the comic book series had been in development at Warner Bros. since 2008, with Dodgeball's Rawson Thurber once attached to direct. He even touted the project back at San Diego Comic-Con 2008.
Alas, the movie isn't moving forward. Blastr points out this Facebook posting by Elfquest co-creator Wendy Pini:
"After close to four years of suspense—and longer than four years of your much-appreciated interest and support—the word has come down from Warner Bros. And the word is 'no.' Their simple explanation is that they don't want to compete with The Hobbit. This was a possibility, among several, that we were prepared for. It is a relief, at last, to know."
