There have been many great Castlevania games released on the Nintendo DS this generation, but the first, Dawn of Sorrow, might be the best. It didn’t take the series to new heights, but rather built on the solid foundation established by the Castlevania games on the Game Boy Advance. Beautiful and great fun, Dawn of Sorrow wisely avoided the touch screen gimmicks of other early DS games. Everything you would want from a Symphony of the Night-style Castlevania game -- platforming, puzzles, boss fights, exploration -- is here in excellent condition. Dawn of Sorrow was worth buying a DS for.
