Yet again, the 3DS reigns supreme in its home country. Fueled by Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Monster Hunter 3G and Inazuma Eleven Go (an RPG/Soccer hybrid), the system topped the sales charts in Japan, selling over 240,000 units for the week of January 2 - three times its nearest competitor, the PS3.
Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land, Monster Hunter 3G and Inazuma took the top four sales positions in Japan. Kart, Land and Hunter have all cleared 1 million units in sales, with Inazuma crossing 325,000. The only other 3DS title to make the top 20 was Nintendogs + Cats at spot #13.
For comparison, the PlayStation Vita ranked fifth in system sales with 42,000 units sold. No Vita games made Japan's top 20 sales last week.
