Final Fantasy: 4 Heroes of Light for Nintendo DS
Crown Guide and Recommendations
by Lumanous (zachisnotavailble | Google)
This guide is show each crown's abilities, what is needed for them, and open
opinions along with when you would need them.
How the order will work:
Name- Name of the crown, along with how it is obtained and special ability.
Crown type- Physical, Magical, Special, Defensive.
Stats- Shows the stat multipliers.
Attack- Best weapon or magic type for the crown. There is either: Daggger,
Sword, Bow, Staff, Spear, Axe, Book, Harp, Needle, Black Magic, White Magic,
Dark Magic, or Items.
Gems- Shows what is needed for each crown level.
Abilities- Shows what abilities the crown has.
Characters- Which character(s) would be best suited for the crown.
Usage- Shows when they would be needed, their purpose, and why should you use
them.
Before we get started let me explain some things.
Some characters have higher stats than others. For example, Brandt has the
highest natural HP count while Aire has the least. But Aire has the highest
INT count while Brandt has the least.
I will go over the characters' natural stats. But remember, it comes down to
the armor they wear.
Brandt- Highest HP, Highest STR, Lowest INT, Average SPT. Better with physical
crowns.
Jusqua- 2nd highest HP, Average STR, INT, and SPT. Average at everything.
Yunita- 2nd lowest HP, Average STR, Average INT, Highest SPT. Better with
crowns designed for healing like the White Mage, but is okay when it comes to
physical damage.
Aire- Lowest HP, Lowest STR, Highest INT, Average SPT. Best when it comes to
spells, but is kinda bad with physical damage.
Let's get started!
---------------------------------------------------
Freelancer- Innate, the first crown of the game.
"Keep all your gems when your party dies!"
Physical.
Stats:
HP-1.0
STR-1.0
INT-1.0
SPT-1.0
Best Attack: N/A. Equal in everything.
Gems: N/A
Abilities: N/A
Characters: Any
The point?:
Freelancers are the characters at their base. With no special stats.
Lackluster with all weapons, they aren't very supportive characters when it
comes to middle to end game.
Freelancers would be needed if you are having a hard time or if you are new to
the game.
Freelancers are great when you are trying to farm rare items from monsters like
Ogre Bear.
But other than that... their is really no point to have them.
---------------------------------------------------
Wayfarer- Defeat Greaps in Witch's Mansion.
"Recovery items work better!"
Physical
Stats:
HP-1.0
STR-1.2
INT-1.2
SPT-1.2
Best Attack- All except needles, magic, and Items.
Gems:
Lvl 1- 5 Rubies, 5 Emeralds.
Lvl 2- 6 Rubies, 2 Topazes, 6 Aquamarines, 1 Amethyst.
Lvl 3- 7 Rubies, 7 Sapphires, 3 Lapis, 2 Amethyst, 1 Diamond.
Abilities-
Runaway- Run and live to fight another day. Has a chance to fail.
Escape- Guaranteed escape from all battles (except boss and scripted battles).
Recovery- Ability version of Regen. Heal 30% HP each turn.
Friend In Need- Summon a dog to attack 1 monster for heavy damage.
Characters- Anyone except Aire.
The point?
Wayfarers are the number one and only choice when you want to run away from
battles.
They are an upgraded Freelancer with better weapon handling. Although still
kinda bad spell casters.
Their special ability will make healing items be twice as effective. Meaning if
they used a potion, it would restore 80 HP instead of 40.
Okay for end game dungeons, but their are better choices.
---------------------------------------------------
White Mage- Defeat the Sand Devil in Quicksand Castle.
"AP cost for white magic reduced by 1!"
Magical and Defensive
Stats:
HP-1.0
STR-0.7
INT-1.3
SPT-1.6
Best Attack- Healing with White Magic. Physical with Staff.
Gems-
Lvl 1- 5 Lapis, 5 Aquamarine
Lvl 2- 2 Topaz, 6 Sapphire, 6 Lapis, 1 Amethyst
Lvl 3- 3 Rubies, 7 Emerald, 7 Lapis, 2 Amethyst, 1 Diamond
Abilities:
Healthgiver- Make a healing spell affect everyone.
Lifegiver- Make a healing spell stronger and affect everyone.
Hide- Make enemy attacks not target you. Party target attacks will still hit
the character.
Miracle- Restore all HP and cure all statues ailments.
Character- Yunita mainly, but others will work as well.
The point?
White Mages are the main healers of the game. They are the best when it comes
to using Cure, Cura, and Curaga.
White Mages can use Cure every turn and never run out of HP!
The only problem is that if a Black Mage uses Mirror, the only option is to use
Items or Miracle unless you want to heal the enemy.
---------------------------------------------------
Black Mage- Deafeat the Sand Devil in Quicksand Castle.
"AP cost for Black Magic reduced by 1!"
Magical
Stats:
HP-1.0
STR-0.8
INT-1.6
SPT-1.3
Best Attack- Black Magic
Gems-
Lvl 1- 5 Topaz, 5 Sapphire
lvl 2- 2 Ruby, 6 Emerald, 6 Topaz, 1 Amethyst
lvl 3- 7 Topaz, 3 Lapis, 7 Auqamarine, 2 Amethyst, 1 Diamond
Abilities-
Magic Mojo- Increase the damage done with all black magic spells except Leaf.
Spell Focus- Magic Mojo x2 :O
Mirror- Reflect ALL spells to the enemy, harm or heal.
Magic Might- A mega flash of magic that hits all enemies. Cannot be boosted by
magic mojo nor spell focus.
Character- Aire, no doubt!
The point?
Black Mages are overpowered and OH SO broken when it comes to elemental
weaknesses.
Today I managed to do 10,498 damage on a monster with the help of Augment,
Amplify, Mgic Mojo, Spell Focus, Aira, and Ditty.
When those abilities are combined. ANY MONSTER (except Chaos) can be defeated
with the weakest spell of a certain element.
They can be helpful at pretty much anytime.
---------------------------------------------------
Bandit- Get LOLOwned! by the Ogre Bear in the Animal Burrow.
"Monsters drop better items!"
Physical and Special
*Will be updated*
