No game is perfect and no game is safe from glitches -- especially MMO's during their launch period. IGN have put together a collection of some of Star Wars: The Old Republic's "dumbest glitches" that have been collected on video. Everything from super small characters to characters having a seizure, they can all be found here. Read More »
Heads up, demo fans! This 2.6GB chunk of action-RPG should give you a taste of the fast-paced combat of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning. I say "should" because I haven't tried it yet, as I'm stuck on spotty hotel wifi at the moment. However, while it's downloading, you can read up on the encounter Mike Nelson and I had with KoA:R last month -- it won't be everybody's dream game, but those who were bored by Skyrim's combat have got to appreciate its fighting-game style (which you can see in the trailer below). Also of note is that this is a new EA game, and it's on Steam -- so EA still hasn't completely withdrawn in favor of Origin. Read More »
Paradox Interactive may be a relatively small publisher, but it's defined itself as a PC-first company that goes out of its way to make its customers happy. I sat down with CEO Fred Wester at this year's PDXCon for a refreshingly frank talk about Paradox's ongoing focus on PC gaming, his plan for the future, and the futility of DRM. Read More »
Guess what? There's a ton of new content and features still on the way for Star Wars: The Old Republic. Just in case you missed the big content update earlier this week, or all the times the team has talked about upcoming features, or even the well-documented patch notes on the official site, there is indeed a lot of work still being put into The Old Republic. After years of waiting, 2K has announced that Firaxis will finally be developing a true modern successor to X-COM, and GameSpy is celebrating by going back to the genre-defining classic's roots. Our three-part retrospective will trace X-COM and its covert war against murderous extraterrestrials from its humble beginnings, through its decline, and into what's looking like an increasingly bright future. IGN reported earlier today that Resident Evil 6 has been confirmed and is slated for release later this year. While both the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game have been given a release date of November 20th, the PC version (while confirmed) is simply listed as "later." Read More »
It's rare when a game's sheer beauty and elegance has the power to hook me from the very moment I start playing. Toren's story-driven puzzle adventure follows the tale of a young girl trapped inside a crumbled tower guarded by the doom-inducing gaze of a horrific monster who watches from afar. But it's far more than that. Read More »
Swedish publisher Paradox has just announced A Game of Dwarves, described as "a classic management game with a fantasy twist," for release sometime in 2012. While there's no sign of Tyrion Lannister, GoD looks like it could be pretty entertaining -- it resembles a cartoony, less-evil version of Dungeon Keeper in which you guide a crew of half-pint miners to dig a really deep hole. Somewhere down there lurks an evil wizard who doesn't much like being disturbed. Check out the screenshots below. Read More »
IGN is made up of a group of people who love games and entertainment. We are extremely privileged to be able to write about the things that we love, to be able to make videos, podcasts and all the other things that we do. We love to share our ideas and our opinions on matters that are relevant to games and entertainment. So, it's long past time we made our opinions known on the subject of SOPA and PIPA. We are not lawyers and are in no way qualified to pull apart acts of legislation. But, like you, we do have opinions about this issue and recognize our responsibility to share them. Read More »
I don't like repeating myself. Games that barrage me with tedious trial-and-error usually end up on the wrong end of the woodchipper. So Dustforce legitimately shocked me when I realized that -- while leaping, dashing, and sliding my way through my 20th or so playthrough of the same level -- I wasn't swearing up a storm. This is a fast-paced 2D platformer that absolutely demands perfection, but it's also something similarly demanding indie hop 'n' bops like Super Meat Boy are not: oddly relaxing. Read More »
It's been just about two months since Minecraft hit its 1.0 release, but that milestone is still far from "final." The game just saw its first major update since then, full of stuff like cleaned up biome boundaries, enchanted bows, and chuckable eggs that spawn critters. But if that's not enough to keep you entertained then there's always a great big pile of mods out there to toy around with. Read More »

To build or to buy? That is the question for many gamers taking their first tentative steps into PC gaming. To help answer that question, we challenged custom PC maker iBuyPower to build us a great gaming machine for under $1,000. They delivered a solid Intel i5-based PC capable of playing the latest and greatest on high settings. But would we have been better off building a similar machine on our own? That's the question we aimed to answer. Read More »
