Nintendo's console could have an App store, according to a new report.
The rumour originates from The Daily, which claims that it has learned of plans "to implement a full-blown app store for the system."
Currently, both the Wii and 3DS have rudimentary app support in the form of the DSi and Wii Shop channels. The source claims that the Wii U's store will "go far beyond this, proffering a wider variety of apps."
The source for this rumour is identified as the reassuringly vague "person familiar with the matter". But with the console's tablet-like controller, it definitely makes sense for Nintendo to launch a service to provide a range of applications, in addition to more traditional gaming fare.
What do you think of the hearsay? And what sort of applications would you like to see appear on Nintendo's Wii U? Let us know in the comments below.
