Mass Effect 3 dilemmaJanuary 15, 2012 by scottie-do
Mass Effect 3 is nearly here and I have a dilemma.
I played through ME2 on my PC. My PC is very much near the end of its gaming-life with a videocard fan malfunction leaving the system very temperamental (even with a new card).
I really want to play ME3 but it would mean buying a new rig... or starting with no previous save file on my PS3. From the get-go my play style has been that I just let things happen and deal with the consequences. I don't go back and re-do situations etc. I lost a few people in the final mission of ME2, I was upset at the time, but I like having to live with that.
The only plus side of starting fresh is that I'll likely play as FemShep as the consensus was that her voice acting was a lot better.
Should I pony-up and get a new PC or just start fresh with ME3 on my PS3?
Feature Articles and preparing for 2012 January 11, 2012 by scottie-doHey anyone who actually reads this,
Its been a while since I've updated my blog. Since then I've had two additional feature articles go up on IGN.
The earlier article covers some of my thoughts on the downloadable games market and how it might be the saving grace for film tie-in games. It can be read here.
My latest feature is a fun article about role playing as different gaming characters in Skyrim. It can be read here.
Feel free to leave me any feedback in the comments section to this post.
Finally, I realise that every other blog post on myIGN is about how people wish they blogged more often, but gosh darn it, I am really going to make an effort getting more involved with the myIGN community. In the coming week I will post some best/worst of 2011 lists and other posts of that nature.

Diablo 3 to Offer Off-line Play, New Companions September 8, 2011 by scottie-do
Today in Tomorrow's News: gaming news before it happens
Replying to criticism of their previously announced plan to require a constant online connection to play Diablo 3, Blizzard have made a couple of changes.
Firstly, an off-line play mode will now be available. This will allow players without an internet connection to experience the game. A spokesperson for blizzard had this to say: "When you look at everything you get by having that persistent connection on the servers, you cannot ignore the power and the draw of that." As such, additional features of the offline mode were also announced.
A new, compulsory companion character will assist off-line players in their mission against the dark hordes. This character has been specifically designed to bring an online, multilayer feel to the game, constantly spouting racist, sexist and homophobic hate speech while criticising the players play style. The companion character will also stop playing at random intervals, to simulate toilet breaks and other real world inconveniences.
The off-line mode will also intermittently boot you to the main menu, simulating dropped internet connections.
This announcement was greeted with widespread celebration in many cities around the world.
