[/quote]I don't think you can say that they are poorly written. Best you can do is that you didn't like the plot, and the book didn't speak to you. They are without a doubt a couple of well written books.

1984 gets a little over the top. It's not the only dystopia novel to do so, but at least stuff like Fahrenheit 451 kept you engaged with its characters, and is still relevant now. Animal Farm was a commentary on what was going on rather than what could be, which is probably why it's easier for me to look more favorably upon it.

Animal House is by many regarded as one of the best books of the 20th Century. I like it better than 1984.


Kurt Vonnegut is also known as one of the best authors of the 20th Century.


So either way they are both great and highly prized/awarded books.
