App Store Update: January 10

Every day hundreds of new apps make their debut on the App Store, and hundreds more are updated or reduced in price. We have sifted through the noise and highlighted those select few that might be worth your attention.

None! In the several months this App Store Update has been running, this is I believe only the second time there hasn't been a single notable game debut. Perhaps iOS game developers are still in holiday mode?

Even though today didn't bring any new games, there were several great options released yesterday, and plenty more last week, so hit up those updates if you're an iOS gamer looking for something fresh.


Sudoku (Free)
EA's creatively-named Sudoku game is free, today-only. The app is very full-featured, so any Sudoku fan should be sure to jump on this daily deal.

W.E.L.D.E.R. ($0.99)
Excellent and innovative iOS word puzzler W.E.L.D.E.R. has once again been reduced to $0.99. Gamers looking for a new word game should absolutely take a look!

Time For Epic - Heroes in Time! (Free)
Despite its silly name, Time for Epic is a decent castle defense game. It won't set the world on fire, but genre fans should check it out, especially for free. The developer also has another game called Smelly Cat, so there's that.

Planet Minesweeper (Free)
Gamers can nab Planet Minesweeper's unique, spherical take on the classic puzzle formula free of charge, for a limited time.

Sunny Seeds (Free)
Relaxing number puzzle game Sunny Seeds is also free, today.


Super Crate Box
A new character select feature has been added, along with five new unlockable characters. A variety of control tweaks have also been introduced, including the ability to swap the jump and fire buttons.
