Primarily for left-handed gamers.

Kid Icarus Uprising will have a secondary control scheme available if you're using the 3DS's Circle Pad Pro expansion. However the new mode is specifically designed to address the needs of left-handed gamers.

Kid Icarus Uprising's Circle Pad Pro Control Scheme
The traditional Uprising control scheme uses the 3DS's circle pad for movement while aiming with the stylus. No doubt some left-handed gamers will find this layout frustrating, preferring to aim with their dominant hand. Kid Icarus director Masahiro Sakurai revealed to the UK's Official Nintendo Magazine that players will be able to reverse this scheme if they own the Pad Pro, controlling Pit with the added, right-side Circle Pad instead.

Kid Icarus Uprising's Traditional Control Scheme
Sakurai noted that no other control ideas were considered for two reasons. The first was the development team wasn't aware the Circle Pad Pro existed until it was revealed alongside Monster Hunter 3G. Even had his team known, however, Sakurai isn't sure he would have opted to allow players to control Pit with two Circle Pads. Sakurai noted he believes the quicker aiming enabled by the stylus is necessary.
