10 Best Mass Effect Teammates
5. Legion
The unlikeliest of allies, Legion's appearance as a squad member in Mass Effect 2 was an awesome twist that few saw coming. The Geth character was a surprisingly pleasant conversationalist who helped put the war into perspective for the Normandy team, offering insight to the Geth and their role in the Collector's assault. There are still a lot of unanswered questions about Legion and the character showed up pretty late in Mass Effect 2, but I personally can't wait to see how he develops in Mass Effect 3.

4. Liara
Potential long-term love interest for Shepard, daughter of a powerful Asari matriarch, and eventual Shadow Broker, Liara fits many roles in the Mass Effect universe, but ultimately stands as one of the best characters overall. After being relegated to a supporting role in Mass Effect 2, it has been confirmed that Liara will be back in ME3 as a playable character, and we couldn't be more excited to have her back in our party.

3. Wrex
Ah Urdnot Wrex. The original Mass Effect saw Wrex as somewhat of a loose cannon on Shepard's team, with a gruff personality and tendency to butt heads with Shep on several occasions (mess one such argument up and you might end up killing him). However, play your cards right and Wrex will become an important ally in Mass Effect 2, someone who considers Shepard a dear friend and ally of the Krogan race. Wrex is stubborn, tough as nails, and a fantastic character in the Mass Effect universe.

2. Tali
The resident gearhead on the Normandy, Tali is a member of the nomadic quarian race, known for their proficiency with space travel and technical prowess. Mass Effect 2 shows us more of the enigmatic quarian society, as Tali is brought up on treason charges, requiring Shepard and his crew to get to the bottom of the accusations. Tali is completely endearing for her skill on the battlefield, her endearing geekiness, and a rich story that carries through the first two games in the series.

1. Garrus
The ultimate badass of the Mass Effect series, Garrus began his tenure in the series as a stoic man (or rather Turrian) of action, bound by honor and appreciation for the law. However, his personal honor code is turned on its head come Mass Effect 2, where we find Garrus as a fugitive vigilante, taking out criminals and seeking revenge against the former squadmate that wronged him. Any way you slice it, Garrus is simply an awesome counterpart to Shepard, and hands down the best supporting character in the franchise.
