Despite the fact that he's an alcoholic, Brian Griffin might very well be the most rational member of the Griffin clan -- the dog often is in many families, after all. Here we've compiled a series of Family Guy videos featuring Brian doing his best to keep the peace and remain calm as a chaotic world explodes around him.

The first rule of sitcoms, animated for otherwise: Never, ever track down your ex, 'cause time and tide is never, ever kind. This is a lesson hard learned by our young Brian when he looks up the one that got away.

See what we mean? Seeking out the past makes for a very tumultuous present. Here Brian demonstrates his parenting skills on Stewie, which are skills he'd better hone now that he has to take care of his bastard kid.

Stewie makes it very, very difficult for Brian to make out with his ladyfriend on the couch. This awkward moment wouldn't be half as funny if we actually saw Stewie wrecking annoying havoc in the other room.

Every member of the Griffin clan has put on some weight at one time or another, but none so disturbingly as Brian. An overweight Brian lying about on the couch and indulging in gluttony is a frightening Brian in need of an immediate intervention.

As intelligent and rational as he is, Brian is, ultimately, a dog, and sometimes he can't resist his better doggie instincts. If you throw a piece of wood, he's going to run after it -- and he's not going to give it back without a fight.
