As we reported when we revealed PlayStation Vita's most recent sales figures, no Vita titles sold enough to make the top 20 games at retail in Japan. However, with Media Create's top 50 games from December 26, 2011 to January 1, 2012 translated by Andriasang, we now have a better idea of what Vita games did chart.
The same four games that have charted in weeks past continue to endure. Hot Shots Golf 6 is again the best-selling PlayStation Vita game at retail, which can be found 28th on the list. Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Dynasty Warriors Next and Lord of Apocalypse are the other three games that charted, coming in at 29th, 34th and 36th, respectively.
It's important to note that Media Create doesn't give specific numbers that deep into the chart, though each of the games must have sold less than 15,800 for the week, as Frontier Gate on PSP sold that much, and is the last game on the chart with specific sales numbers.
Additionally, Media Create's chart doesn't count digital downloads, which seem to be the predominant way games are purchased for the handheld as indicated by PlayStation Vita's 0.92 unit-to-game sold ratio. Digital sales of games via the PlayStation Network have been described by Sony as exceeding expectations.
