WWE Wrestlers Take on BrainSurge

The WWE comes to Nickelodeon this Thursday night, as several WWE superstars compete on the Nick game show Family BrainSurge. The wrestlers will be paired with BrainSurge's kid contestants, and when I visited the set of the game show, shortly before the game was about to be played, it was clear that this group all were eager to outdo one another.

When I spoke to Eve, she told me, "We've already been talking trash backstage. Of course, The Miz thinks he's got everyone beat. But we all know, he's going down first. We're all competitive people. This is what we do for a living – we compete for a living! But doing something totally different, involving the brain, involving kids, Nickelodeon… It's just going to be a lot of fun."

As Eve noted, The Miz had plenty to say about how well he presumed he was going to do, telling me himself, "I'm a very, very smart person. When I was on The Real World and The Real World/Road Rules Challenges, everyone would know me as the puzzle guy. Memorization is my key, and so that's basically what's going to stand me out from everybody else and make me the best."

As for the other WWE wrestlers that day, Miz remarked, "Eve's a nerd. Morrison's a nerd. They're both nerds. They were asking the nerdier questions up there about everything. Me and the little girl that's on my team, we were like, 'Listen, we got this in the bag.' We're not worried about anything. We trash talk. That's what I do. That's what I'm good at."

The former WWE champion added, "Any time I've been in these types of competitions, I normally win and if I don't win, it's because of the kids."

Said Kofi Kingston, "This is going to be great. We are all very competitive. The WWE is one of the most competitive environments to be involved with, so naturally, all of us WWE superstars are extremely competitive. No one likes to lose to The Miz, so that is one guy I want to knock off real early."

John Morrison really got into the WWE spirit when we spoke, pacing back and forth and essentially delivering a RAW-ready promo, as he told me he was approaching BrainSurge like a match and noting, "A John Morrison match is like a good game of chess. You can't beat John Morrison on the first move. You can't beat anyone in the WWE on the first move. You've got to work up to checkmate, which is why John Morrison always thinks ten moves ahead. Which is fortunate for me and unfortunate for the competitors here today, because instead of playing chess… let's just say they're a checker crowd. They're a computer solitaire crowd. Connect Four."

The winner of BrainSurge gets the true Nickelodeon badge of honor – they're slimed. Kofi said he was very excited about that part of the show, exclaiming, "I am absolutely hoping to get slimed today, man! Ever since You Can't Do That on Television, where it all started… Saying, 'I don't know,' and having the slime come down on you, and the way it just evolved. Personally, I have been around for the evolution of Nick and I have younger brothers and sisters, so I was able to kind of stay involved with that aspect. Even now, I still watch it. So yeah, it's going to be really cool. Hopefully I do get slimed, because that is the ultimate prize here on BrainSurge."
