World War Z, Max Brooks' zombie novel opus, is jam-packed with undead goodness. So much so that one can't help but wonder how Brad Pitt's upcoming movie adaptation of the story can fit it all in. And now it looks like there may be an answer to that question: The plan is to make adaptations, plural.
The LA Times is running a profile on Pitt, who is producing and starring in the film for Quantum of Solace director Marc Forster. And apparently, World War Z is meant to be a trilogy. As per the paper: "Forster and Paramount Pictures each view World War Z as a trilogy that would have the grounded, gun-metal realism of, say, [Matt] Damon's Jason Bourne series tethered to the unsettling end-times vibe of AMC's The Walking Dead."

Obviously this will be contingent on how the first film -- due out in about a year -- does at the box office. And fans of the book will note that the story has been altered for the movie, taking the cipher narrator of the novel and turning him into... well, Brad Pitt, "a United Nations fact-finder and family man who desperately races around the globe to determine the origins of a zombie pandemic that has toppled civilization in short order." In the book, the story takes place after the war has ended and is told by many, many different people who lived through the experience.
But, as The Times points out, Pitt doesn't really have a Big Franchise in his wheelhouse. Maybe World War Z will change that.
