As if things couldn't get any worse for Nintendo and the 3DS. The company's latest handheld hasn't found the sales traction needed to beat even Sony's six-year old PSP.
For the quarter, the Nintendo 3DS sold 710,000 units worldwide compared to Sony's PSP which sold 1.8 million units. For software, Sony moved 6.6 million PSP games compared to 4.5 million for 3DS.
In total, the 3DS has sold 4.3 million units since it launched in Japan this past February. Nintendo is reportedly taking a loss on each 3DS sold after it introduces the massive price cut early next month.
The price drop for the 3DS begins first in Japan on August 11 followed by North America, Japan, and Europe on August 12.
