Courier Missions
Overview
There are 3 courier missions in San Andreas, one in each of the big cities.
There are three vehicles scattered around the state that will activate a
Courier Mission - just get on the vehicle, and the mission automatically
starts.
The locations of the Courier Missions are not marked on your in-game map; see
red marks on maps below to find exactly where each courier is located.
There are four levels of deliveries to complete on each Courier mission. Once
they are completed, you are rewarded with a money-making asset (generating
revenue up to a maximum of $2000 a day), and a small amount of progress in the
game (0.54% per mission), as well as any earnings you make on the mission.
IGN describe the courier missions as like the classic game "Paperboy in a
Grand Theft Auto" setting, and this is a fairly accurate description. Once
you've got onto the vehicle, your aim is to deliver packages to certain
destinations in certain amounts of time, and to do so, you must throw the item
through a checkpoint ring.
Useful tips for doing the Courier Missions:
? Do the Roboi's Food Mart one in LS as early as possible. Not only will it
boost your bike skill, it will also provide you with much-needed cash very
early in the game.
? If you're having difficulty getting the package delivered, use L2 and R2
only when you're right next to the checkpoint ring (a red corona) - my
strategy is to ride as quickly as possible to the ring, then brake hard using
R1 and square together to stop just before you reach the corona. Then, holding
L2, or R2 as appropriate, cycle slowly past the checkpoint, and when passing
it, throw your package in using circle.
? Don't get too close or too far away from the corona - by playing through the
mission you will easily figure out a good distance to be from it.
? If you do happen to miss when you throw a package, quickly hop off your bike
and collect it (this can only be done for a short period of time before the
thrown package disappears). This ensures that not only will you have some
spare in case of an emergency, but you also earn more money for having spare
packages when you return at the end of each section of the mission. Lose all
your packages before carrying out your deliveries and you will FAIL the
mission, so be careful!
? VERY IMPORTANT! Take your time. This may sound like very basic advice, but
in reality, the main reason people fail this mission is because they panic and
think it all has to be done fast. In reality, you can go at a fairly leisurely
pace and still complete the courier missions without any problems.
? Plan your route! Use your map - another basic, but often overlooked, piece
of advice. I have tried to indicate the best way to go for each delivery in
each set of missions, but you can figure your own best way out by using the
waypoint marker on your map - that's what it's there for.
? For the San Fierro and Las Venturas Courier Missions, you will be operating
motorized vehicles - chances are that you may need to use a Pay'n'Spray. Try
to time your runs so you're passing one on your deliveries. Don't panic if
this happens - you've more than likely got plenty of time. I used the
Pay'n'Spray twice when doing the SF deliveries, and still had plenty of time
to spare.
