Welcome to Channel Surfing, the IGN TV podcast. This is where the staff of IGN TV (and occasional guests) lends their print-ready voices to the world of podcasting!

Hey guys, Eric and Matt back again. We start out this week discussing the Golden Globe nominations and some of the stranger choices from the ever-baffling Hollywood Foreign Press. After that, it's on to more news, as Howard Stern officially signs onto America's Got Talent, Russell Brand gets a show at FX and Doctor Who readies for the departure of Amy Pond.

Reader email brings us questions and comments about action-oriented animated series and closed captions – and then a longer chat about "shipping" and whether the obsession with couples can derail otherwise strong series like Chuck and Nikita.

We then have a conversation about Boardwalk Empire and its just-concluded second season, which involved some very surprising turns of events. And, well, it just sort of happens that we then bleed that chat into one about Dexter (again!) and why the events of last week's episode bothered us so much.

Thank you for this, David Taylor!
