Warning: Full spoilers for the episode follow...

Welly well well.

There you have it. The big twist. Of which the only good thing I can say is that at least it's over and done with and we can now move on into less-predictable territory. Now I'm not going to spend the entire review saying "I told you so," because it's not like I was the only one who predicted the fact that Gellar was merely a dark, personality of Travis' and that the real Gellar was dead somewhere, Mama Bates-style. After the very first episode too, mind you. I was simply championing the fact that this twist was clunky and obvious and made this season, so far, a clumsy mess that's had to bend itself around this twist.

A month ago, almost 60% of you knew Gellar wasn't real!

Nine episodes. We spent nine episodes watching this show carry this revelation around on its shoulders. So I'm happy that we can spend the final three chapters light of its burden. So, you know, thank heavens it's over. But that didn't help make this episode any less of a chore to watch. It was very frustrating watching Dexter "work" with Travis. And not just because Dexter could have ended this whole thing by ending Travis a few episodes back (the show, bending), sparing a few lives in the process. But because most of us knew what the end of this episode would be so we were just watching "Get Gellar" go through the motions. Plus, why would Dexter ever think Gellar would want to meet Travis back at the church? The place that Gellar and Travis were supposedly caught in? By Dexter? Ugh. Bending.

Obvious twist was obvious.
So now I will spend the next couple of weeks hoping and praying that the remaining three episodes are so good that they'll be able to redeem this particular run. On the upside here, I do like it when blood and guts rain down from the ceiling as part of a meticulously crafted dead body booby trap. I'm a fan. Plus, the professor who got gutted was a total wad, making him pretty much the first Doomsday victim that I didn't mind see getting butchered. And now that Travis has been revealed to be the lone crazy I'm looking forward to seeing flashbacks of him killing and/or the look on his face when he's told, maybe by Dexter, that he killed his own sister and marked her as a whore.

Anyone else know something hinky was up as soon as Louis led Jamie into his apartment? I knew something was totally off, but I just didn't quite know what. Unfortunately, sometimes you can tell what's coming by what they choose to show you during the "Previously on..." part right at the beginning and there just had to be a reason for showing the ITK hand auction again. So does this mean that Louis and Ryan are working together? I mean, she was obsessed with the grisly goings-on at Miami Metro and he's making an entire game about the place. Now there was a nice little twist that I fully support.

And no, no one was surprised by Matthews being behind the overdosed hooker. He's the only person we know. What, were they going to introduce a new character that Laguerta answers to? Still, I am curious how Laguerta plans on f***ing up Deb's life and/or career to protect Matthews. *shakes fist* Oooh, Laguerta.

It was also fun to hear Deb blurt out every single psycho thing that's happened to her to her therapist and have her therapist basically say "Let me clear my entire schedule." These were all the things that we, as viewers, have been saying out loud for years now and I'm glad the show has chosen to fully embrace how nuts her life is. They did leave out the part where, a year after she was about to marry ITK, her partner Doakes was revealed to be the biggest serial killer in Miami history. With all the killers being brought back this season, like ITK and Trinity, it's weird that no one ever brings up Doakes.

And Batista and Quinn? Yukking it up in a dumb side story like two Zeppos? I'll be somewhat okay with their idiot brawl if it means that the two of them will stop being total dumbs***s during the Season 6 homestretch. Then again, I thought Quinn's heart to heart with Deb two episodes was going to put an end to his misadventures in douchedom, but I was wrong about that too.

In closing, I'm glad the obvious twist has twisted itself and that we can now spend the rest of the season free of its shackles. As the Book of Daniel put it, the writing was definitely on the wall. Now I don't know if we'll get to the big Deb "epiphany" this season or not, but I do like the fact that a few weirdos, obsessed with the ghoulishness of Miami Metro, have worked hard to get inside the office space and work with the team. Perhaps they know things about ITK and Trinity that Deb doesn't. Also, we don't even know what their plan is yet. I'm hoping it's dastardly and that they, more than anyone else, remember Doakes and how many people he supposedly killed.
