Paranormal Activity producer Jason Blum and the team behind A&E;'s unscripted TV series Paranormal State have recently decided to combine their supernatural resources and option the rights to Fate magazine, a long-running periodical containing stories of the weird and unexplained.

According to the story from The Hollywood Reporter, Blum and Paranormal State producers George Plamondon and Betsy Schechter have decided to mine the chronicler's library of its thousands of stories for movies and television.

Fate, which began in 1948, featured tales of alien abductions, hauntings and other bizarre phenomena, serving as a goldmine of inspiration for Plamondon and Schechter who lifted ideas from the cult magazine for various series like Animal Planet's The Haunted. Fate often published firsthand accounts from readers or investigative features exploring and often debunking those accounts.

"Whether you believe or not, if you watch someone who believes, it's fascinating," says Plamondon.
