Do You Want a New Mortal Kombat Movie?
The kombatants are set to battle again, but is this a good thing?

It's been quite a good year for the Mortal Kombat franchise. First, WB delivered a reboot of the games that won over critics and gamers alike. Then, director Kevin Tancharoen's short film Mortal Kombat: Rebirth was expanded into a 9-episode web series.
Now, New Line is prepping a Mortal Kombat movie reboot. What's more, Tancharoen is being brought on board to direct. The new film won't be tied to the previous two or to the Legacy series.
So What Say You, MK fans: Is this new movie a good thing? Mortal Kombat has a spotty history in Hollywood, but the same could be said for just about every gaming franchise that has made the jump. The original movie still ranks as one of the few truly watchable video game adaptations. The sequel, meanwhile, is better enjoyed with friends and copious amounts sniffing cleaning supplies. Can this reboot do right by the series?
What approach should New Line take to the reboot? Should the relatively grounded and realistic approach of Legacy be retained? Should they push the realism even further? Or should Tancharoen embrace the sillier aspects of Mortal Kombat and deliver a more bombastic adaptation? Should the film feature a limited cast or branch out to include the many warriors, colored ninjas, demons, robots, and demigods that make up the MK roster?
