Thanks to the rise of Apple and Android devices, digital comics have gone from a futuristic concept to becoming a reality. Those with phones, tablets and computers compatible with apps now have the ability to ditch the printed page and read your comic books on an electronic screen. There are many different apps out there that offer us comics on a weekly basis, but as we said in our Guide to Digital Comics, ComiXology is the by far the most popular.
ComiXology may have started to bring this type of product to us in 2007, but I didn't really get into digital comics until I purchased an iPad last year. Being that the screen is about the same size as a normal printed comic, this was a simple transition; allowing me to easily go from surfing the net to reading comics... to playing Angry Birds. I didn't think it would happen, but I almost exclusively read my comics on my iOS devices now and couldn't recommend the experience any more highly. As part of this recommendation, in January I created this recurring blog series 'This Week In Digital Comics' to give those that also read digitally an idea of what's worthy of your time and money.
This feature is separated into four parts: This Week's Top Pick, Day & Date, Must Read Comics, and What Did I Buy? By no means is it feasible to expect anybody to collect everything that comes out every week, so hopefully using this feature can guide you towards purchasing what is right for you.
