Yesterday's quote was from Total Recall. Strangely, I had more people get the theme (Exploding Heads) then give me the movie! The theme was first cracked by Tex Arcana, so he gets a bonus three points. He was also the first in for another three! Second was PeeWee and third was Draggor
Yesterday's quote was from Planet Terror but I also accepted Grind House because it was also under that title in the theater. Based on that we got our three correct responses!
First in was Tex Arcana for three, Draggor for two and Crimson Pig for one. No stabs as the secret theme though!

World of Padman Shows Off New Map for 1.6 Release[ Comment ] 19:27 PST | TheHappyFriar | Print News | Category: Quake III Arena NewsWorld of Padman, the “toon” GPL-Quake 3 powered shooter, is showing off screens from a new map for the 1.6 release. The first screens of the map appeared in 2010 and was intended to be part of the 1.5 release but it looks like perfection got in the way: this map started it's design back in 2004 and is finally being released! That's dedication right there!
The map is called “Airplane” and all the battling takes place in, you guessed it, an airplane! The map looks extremely detailed. Here's some screens to wet your whistle until release:
Also on the “new and cool” from WoP is that PaddyBell is getting a revamp for 1.6. She'll have two new skins: BadPaddy and PaddyBee. BadPaddy is an evil twin (kind of) to PaddyBell, not a sweet fairy. PaddyBee is bee-like in appearance. Updated animations are also being done for 1.6. Both skins were designed by PencilWhipped.
So, ready for today then? Yesterday's quote was Raiders of the Lost Ark. We had a ton of right entries but only the first three get points! We even had a stab at the theme but it was bad stab that didn't even come close! :p

My wife wouldn't see it with me so I went alone. The theater messed up, the started the movie ~3 minutes in. I was one of three people in the theater. So, to make it up to us they gave us all a free movie ticket that's good for any movie. The result with a date night with my wife to the movie that's today's quote! :)

World of Padman Open Beta Weekend![ Comment ] 10:34 PST | TheHappyFriar | Print News | Category: Quake III Arena News - Community NewsTo gear up for the 1.6 release of World of Padman they're doing something special, this weekend only: You have a chance to play the last beta before the 1.6 release! This weekend only starting Friday night they're wanting you to play on one of their two beta-only servers. Each server has different game modes. They want your feedback to keep the high quality they've had for this long!
To participate you need to join their forums and access the beta section. So don't lolly gag, head on over, help squash some bugs and support this stand-alone Q3A game!
Here's some things they're looking for feedback on:
voice chat icons over a player's head and in the HUD is shown when he is talking.
icons of teammates, loading stations, spray teleporter, LPS arrows and BB boxes are shown correctly and their respective buttons work in the game option menu.
the reduced ammo bottle load of Boaster (from 100 to 60) and Balloony (from 15 to 10) feels right with the weapons balance and game play.
the reduced Boaster direct hit damage (from 5 to 3) feels right with the weapons balance and game play.
the powerups are still handled correct while being in the spray room. Powerups should be removed completely when entering the spray room and given back correctly when leaving the spray room. The time of powerups is not paused!
the 3D stereoscopic feature and the 3D crosshair works, when selected in the menu.
the reduced PadPower damage feels right with the weapons balance and game play. We reduced the multiplier from 3 to 2.
BamBams are prone to visionless now and how this affect the game play.
the bots behaviour in CTL game mode and the navigation is flawless.
Bambams can't be placed into walls or mapobjects anymore.
the HUD indicates areas where no BamBams and Boomies can be placed correctly.

Today is the day we'll most likely see our extended families for the first time of the year, Christmas being the second time. It's strange we don't have snow yet though. I don't remember a Thanksgiving without snow on the ground.
Sorry for being late today. Since I knew I wasn't working today I stayed up late working on my Doom 3 map.

Tier666 is a bot-improvement mod aimed at making the bots more like “pro” players and less like walking insta-killed/ing machines. What makes this version worth a download? They've added two new gametypes: Quick Capture Strike and Occupy Sweet Spot (a single player game type!). They've updated the HUD to make things more accessible and usable for players. Bots have been updated to include hit-and-run style tactics, will jump towards items (like cpma or spiter bot) and will follow teammates and stalk enemies better.
