Brann Dailor wakes up and is faced with a staggeringly tough decision: should I put on the "Who Ate All the P***y?" t-shirt or rock the Marty Feldman Young Frankenstein tee in honor of Halloween? On this day, Marty Feldman wins out, and Dailor arrives at our interview (on All Hallows Eve) decked out in holiday-appropriate garb.
But it's a tough decision for the drummer, who has also had to make hard choices about which velvet paintings to hang in his aptly named "Velvet Painting Room," where his Centipede arcade cabinet also resides. These two nuggets of insight come out early and help set the stage for one very funny interview.
Troy Sanders and Brann Dailor's day job is producing the most complex and relevant metal being played today, but they'd be just as comfortable on an improv stage. Throughout our interview, they riffed, vibed, and joked... and were quite, quite funny (you can also see it in the photos we grabbed from the set).
Their quick wit and easy manner is also on display on Mastodon's newest release The Hunter, which boasts such non-Mastodon sounding song titles as "Curl of the Burl" and "Bedazzled Fingernails." We sat down to talk to them about gaming, getting featured heavily in Splatterhouse, and scoring seven tracks on the Resistance soundtrack.
