Minecraft Review

By Nathan Grayson | PC Reviews | Nov 22, 2011 2:35 PM | Comment

When the order to review Minecraft first came down from On High, I was honestly dumbstruck. "Review Minecraft?" I wondered to myself. "Like, with words and numbers? Is that even possible?" So I obsessed about it for days, reawakening a potentially life-destroying Minecraft addiction -- a fact that's now written all over my unwashed, un-shaven face. When I blink, I see blocks. When I dream, Creepers are everywhere. Read More »

Holiday Collector's Editions: What You Shouldn't Buy

By Fake Drs. David Wolinsky and Eric Neigher | PC News | Nov 22, 2011 12:12 PM | Comment

Black Friday and Cyber Monday (and Regular Sunday and Jewish-Sabbath Saturday in between) are almost upon us which means only one thing: It's time to heed Jim Cramer's advice and buy, buy, buy a fiscally irresponsible amount of videogames. After all, you've had a hard year, and all your cool friends are buying the latest, greatest -- well, at least the latest -- new games, and you've gotta fit in. But there's a fine line between being thrifty and plain old dumb with your money. Read More »

Eagle Dynamics Developer Q&A

By Bennett Ring | PC Articles | Nov 21, 2011 3:37 PM | Comment

2011 has been a golden year for flight simmers, and arguably the best of the bunch was the impossibly complex DCS A10C Thunderbolt. Made by the talented Russians at Eagle Dynamics, this mighty recreation of the US Air Force's best tank buster set a new benchmark for combat sims… but their work isn't done yet. The team recently released a roadmap of what they're working on, and we had a quick chat with Jim Mackonochie, Biz Dev, about the announcement. Read More »

Maingear Vybe Super Stock PC Review

By Nathan Meunier | PC Reviews | Nov 21, 2011 6:56 AM | Comment

Serious PC gamers know it's worth it to shell out a little more green for a gaming rig with enough power to last them a few solid years between major upgrades, but everyone has their limits. Maingear's recent redesign of its upper mid-range overclocked Vybe desktop series takes this into account, offering a slick-looking updated chassis packing some real oomph at a price that won't bust your budget. Coming in at just under $2,000 for the most, the Vybe Super Stock is a real workhorse. Read More »

Massivity: Mind Over Chatter in The Secret World

By Leif Johnson | PC Previews | Nov 21, 2011 5:18 AM | Comment

MMORPGS demand many things of their players, but only rarely do they demand that they think. Even in the genre's best titles, exercises in deep thought rarely grow more complex than experiments with stats and abilities, and creative approaches to raid encounters often vanish once someone posts a definitive strategy on YouTube. During my visit to their Montreal studio last month, I got a chance to puzzle my way through the game's Kingsmouth Code series of quests, and the potential of what I saw left me excited and worried at the same time. Prototype 2 Trailer Explores New York Zero

By Nick Winter | PC News | Nov 20, 2011 6:38 AM | Comment

Radical Entertainment is currently working on a sequel to its 2009 sandbox action game, Prototype. To give fans an idea on what they can expect in Prototype 2, the studio has released a "developer diary" explaining the three colored zones of 'New York Zero' (which is where the game will be set). The "green" zone is basically safe, the "yellow" zone is quarantined, while the "red" zone... well... we don't want to go there. It sounds scary. Read More »
