The Cell (2000)
Carl Stargher (Vincent D'Onofrio), schizophrenic serial killer, kidnaps young women and tortures them by placing them in an automated cell. The cell fills with water after 40 hours or so, killing the victim, which Stargher then uses for other things.
Just after he kidnaps another young woman, a rare form of schizophrenia causes a breach in Stargher's brain, putting him into a coma he's not likely to ever come out of. FBI agent Peter Novak (Vince Vaughn) enlists the help of a group who has been experimenting with entering the minds of patients using a new device. Child psychologist Catherine Deane (Jennifer Lopez) has spent the most time inside the system and therefore is the one selected to enter Stargher's mind.
