Skyrim's been out for less than a day and there has been a flood of information on everything from mods, to tweaks, to common sense settings that never made it into the game's instruction booklet (looking at you Favorites system). So we took some time today and put together a small compilation of a variety of tweaks and guides to help you get the most out of your new toy known as Skyrim. Read More »

The timing couldn't have been better. When Chris Hager, producer of the upcoming massive multiplayer online role-playing game TERA Online, contacted me to have a chat about the game's "Big-Ass Monsters" (known as BAMs), I had temporarily lost some of my faith in the genre. Just the night before, in fact, I had responded to a request to join some friends in another game's dungeon by saying that of course I'd be happy to press "1" over and over for 20 minutes. But Hager's monsters, combined with TERA's signature action combat, sounded like just the thing I needed to rekindle my interest. Read More »

If you logged into Steam in the last few hours you would have been greeted by the following message, one that indicates that the Steam forums have been hacked. In addition, these intruders gained access to a database that contains information such as passwords, purchase history, and encrypted credit card information. Valve Corporation's Gabe Newell personally addressed this issue by issuing a formal apology as well as recommending users to "Watch your credit card activity and statements closely," even though they have no evidence of credit card misuse at this time. The following is the complete transcript from Newell's statement that appeared on Steam. Read More »

Playing Gemini Rue almost brought a tear to my eye. Not because of the writing or the situations or anything, but because I never thought I'd play a game like this again. See, when I was a kid, 2D adventure titles like this dominated the market -- games that emphasized story, characters, writing, puzzles, and that sort of thing. Not to say games don't do that today, but they don't do it the way Gemini Rue does. Read More »

Activision-Blizzard not only launched Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 this week, it announced record profits for its fiscal third quarter thanks to millions of CoD: Black Ops map packs sold and record pre-order numbers for MW3. The world of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is a vast expanse of sheer beauty, danger, and adventure -- you can also terrorize townsfolk, get punched in the face by a giant, and fight a ton of dragons. Those are just a few reasons why we love this game so much.
