In-House Review
The DLC info will be slowly filling up this page until its release on the tenth.
If the delay is due to a need for additional polish then, although irrititating, it's understandable. However if - as some people are suggesting - this has been a conscious decision made by the developers with the idea that a simultaneous release would have cannibalised console sales due to piracy (as the Dungeon Defenders dev said just after delaying the PC version and just before the PC version made 80% of overall sales), then there's less sympathy to be had. Perhaps they looked at the game-release horizon and decided they'd be better off waiting - whatever the reason may be, the fact that the devs haven't addressed the issue does nothing to allay the unrest of those who have been anticipating this game on PC since before its first, month-long delay.
Action Mode: For those who want to emphasize action and combat and minimize story management. Action mode will set automatic replies in conversation and a normal difficulty.Story Mode: For those who want to emphasize story immersion and minimize combat pressure. Story mode will set manually-selectable replies in conversation and a minimal combat difficulty.
RPG Mode: For those who want to explore both realms of story and combat. RPG mode will set manually-selectable replies in conversation and a normal combat difficulty.
These modes apparently work as presets, with the ability to further tweak your desired game type available in a separate menu.
The idea that replies to in-game conversation will be automatic in "Action Mode" implies a pre-determined story for that mode, which doesn't sit well with me. However, if this news means that deeper RPG mechanics will be incorporated for those who want them - which screenshots of customisability within the game seem to imply - it might not be all bad.
Thanks go to Neverko & NeoGAF for the news.
The state of semi-uselessness hasn't really allowed me much in the way of concentration or enjoyment of anything in life, but there were a couple of games I could just about manage. Walking around the rainy streets of Gemini Rue (a space-faring pixel-art point-and-click) was pretty pleasant, but the shooty sections got a little bit stressful for my weary mucus-laden brain. Sequence (a PC/XBLA rhythm game) was a terrible choice from the very beginning but I find it impossible to leave those games alone once I'm inside them, even though they make me want to kill/die. I think I'm inching toward a less enfeebled state, but even saying that has probably guaranteed me at least another week of darkness. Are there any games you like playing when your brain is goop on the floor?
Here's a video of an anthropomorphic robot with a flashing light for a head. Robots are immune to spit-borne pathogens. I like watching them move.
This latest entry in the celebrated RIDGE RACER series turbo-charges the racing genre with full environmental and vehicular destruction. The signature arcade handling and drifting elements that fans have come to know and love combined with explosive action takes RIDGE RACER UNBOUNDED to the next level of competitive racing. With a new car selection including powerful vintage muscle cars, take over every alley and street corner in Shatter Bay in the most visceral and destructive racing game of 2012.
What is even more bizzare about this whole thing is that, according to TechnoBuffalo, the buyer probably won’t actually receive the game until about one day before it hits store shelves. Someone has spent almost 30 times what the game is worth to get it one day early.
My mind was utterly blown by this news. Is there really a Call of Duty fan that desperate to get the game early?
Why the tank question? Well, it fits with the general MO of Panzer Corps, a game that features a lot of tanks rolling through hexes, leaving death in their wake. Panzer Corps is a fantastic spiritual successor to the classic Panzer General series. It is an excellent turn based wargame that gets the Generalissimoist’s stamp of approval. As things stand, it’ll almost certainly be on my top ten games of the year list.
The DLCs, by the way, are two new campaigns set in 1939 and 1940. You may continue playing with your veteran units from the DLC 1939 campaign in the DLC 1940 campaign. Eventually, the plan is to have an epic 70 mission campaign connected via DLCs. The 1939 and 1940 DLC campaigns play at a different scale than the original game. For example, the invasion of Norway was a single mission in Panzer Corps while the 1939 DLC campaign features three different missions set in Norway. However, the preexisting campaigns offer tens of hours of gameplay before multiplayer or DLCs are even factored into the equation.
So, start talking about tanks, kameraden.

What's most interesting to me though is if the young kids get it. I mean shit, when B&B; first came on I was in my early teens, and the way those dudes dressed kind of fit in with kids I actually went to school with. We had a Beavis of our own, and his nickname was "Hair" because all through high school he was totally rocking out a 80s buttrock Dave Mustaine style hairdo. He did a near perfect Beavis impression too, totally fit the part. Now though it's all about Beiber Fever and shit, do grungy rock kids even exist anymore?
I hope they keep on keeping on, because man did I miss those guys. Sure, it makes me feel my age like you wouldn't believe, but Mike Judge obviously still has that magic touch and damnit it's not like we're going to see another Office Space anytime soon.
Since I'm on a TV kick tonight, here's a clip that's making the rounds. It features Conan O'Brien (aka Irish Beavis) delivering chinese food of all things.
