E3 2011: Street Fighter X Tekken -- The Cammy Dilemma
How has the skilled agent changed since Street Fighter IV?

I wrote the Street Fighter IV review for IGN in early 2009 and I loved the game. It was a great way to remember my infatuation with the Street Fighter franchise that began with Street Fighter II. When I started playing Street Fighter IV regularly, I decided to focus on developing my skills with Cammy. Although I didn't play much of Super Street Fighter IV, I still felt very comfortable with rocking Cammy's kicks in the ring.
Following Sony's E3 2011 press conference, I had the opportunity to try my hand at Street Fighter X Tekken (read up on the basics first). I was relieved to see Cammy included in the demo because I knew I could count on her in a pinch. But after just a few short rounds, I couldn't help but feel that she's a different character than she was in Street Fighter IV. The same can be said for the other characters revealed so far, like Ken, Ryu, Guile, and Sagat. It's not that Cammy has totally different moves -- she's just fighting at a different pace.
After executing a few classic Cammy techniques like the Cannon Spike and the Spiral Arrow, I wondered why it didn't feel like Street Fighter IV, and -- in turn -- Super Street Fighter IV. I also wondered why I got my ass handed to me. Although the Spiral Arrow followed the typical path across the screen, it seemed slower than usual. Was Cammy's change in pacing indicative of the entire Street Fighter X Tekken experience?
If you see Street Fighter X Tekken and think "Super Street Fighter IV" because of the art style and character design, you'll be surprised by the changes here. Although Street Fighter X Tekken is still a long way from launch and could undergo serious changes, this is a different game than I thought it would be. Cammy isn't the only fighter that plays a little different from her recent exploits -- even the legendary Ryu is a changed warrior.
These balancing adjustments won't discourage my life-long relationship with Cammy, of course. I'd main her even if she levitated and summoned ice dragons.
Microsoft wants everyone to play Flight, so they're giving i...
