Zach Braff is in final negotiations to appear in Oz: The Great and Powerful, Sam Raimi's forthcoming Wizard of Oz prequel.

According to Variety, the Scrubs star will play the titular wizard's assistant, with James Franco already cast as the wiz.

Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams and Rachel Weisz will also appear in the film, with Raimi directing from a script by David Lindsay-Abaire.

Oz: The Great and Powerful is set to commence principal photography in July, with Disney planning to release the film on March 8, 2013.
