StarCraft II: AU Midnight Launch Plans Revealed

StarCraft II. It's kind of a big deal. More than 10 years in the making, the long-awaited sequel is finally touching down in Australia on July 27, and on the night of July 26, retailers will be celebrating in style. Blizzard Entertainment Australia/New Zealand has partnered with EB Games for the launch, and over 180 EB Games stores across Australia and New Zealand will be holding midnight launches.

The main launch event, however, will be held in Brisbane at King George Square, opposite EB Games' Albert Street store in the heart of the city. Kicking off at 9:30pm, entertainment at the event will include:

• StarCraft Trivia Contest: Test your knowledge of the StarCraft universe


• StarCraft Sound-a-like Contest: Give your best StarCraft unit impressions - is your Battlecruiser operational?


• Live Developer Q&A; with StarCraft II Producer Kaeo Milker


• StarCraft Cosplay Contest: Come dressed as your favourite StarCraft characters

There'll also be thousands of dollars worth of prizes up for grabs. We're talking mad Blizzard merch, as well as gear from AMD, Razer and SteelSeries.

Simply put, this event's going to be on a whole new scale as far as Aussie midnight launches are concerned.

So that's the official launch, but if you're not in Brisbane never fear. As stated, plenty of other stores will be opening for midnight sales, and there will be stores in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland giving away prizes and doing trivia and cosplay.
