VANCOUVER, British Columbia, April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Tasktop Technologies (http://tasktop.com), creators of Eclipse Mylyn and the leading provider of task management for application lifecycle management (ALM), today announced Richard McKern as its new vice president of sales. McKern will be responsible for scaling the sales team to support the rapidly growing number of enterprise IT customers adopting the company's flagship product, Tasktop Pro.
"Richard has a unique history in helping enterprise IT leverage the benefits of open source platforms and thought leaders in their application development infrastructure," said Mik Kersten, CEO of Tasktop Technologies and creator of the open source Eclipse Mylyn project. "I am thrilled that Richard will bring his top sales experience from leading technology innovators such as BEA and SpringSource in order to bring the dramatic productivity benefits of Tasktop to the rapidly growing number of organizations needing to integrate their open source, best-of-breed Agile, and legacy ALM stacks."
McKern brings extensive experience increasing sales for enterprise software companies. Most recently he served as the director of sales for SpringSource, the open source infrastructure software company behind the Spring Framework, which was acquired by VMware in 2009. Prior to SpringSource, he was the vice president of sales for SolarMetric, a leading object relational mapping provider, which was acquired by BEA Systems in 2005. At BEA he grew product revenue by more than 200 percent. McKern graduated from MIT with Bachelor of Science degrees in both chemical engineering and science journalism.
Tasktop has partnered with the industry's leading project management and ALM tool companies to provide a much-needed "task management" integration layer within the Agile ALM framework. To date there are more than 45 public integrations for Tasktop Pro. Most recently, Tasktop announced the completion of several new integrations, including VersionOne and ThoughtWorks Studios' Mingle. The company also continues to extend support for the IBM Rational suite with the Tasktop Connector for IBM Rational ClearQuest and Tasktop Connector for Rational Team Concert (RTC). Tasktop was recognized at last month's EclipseCon 2010, where it was named a winner of the Eclipse Community Awards for Best RCP Application.
