It has been confirmed that Bryan Singer (
X-Men) will return to direct
Superman: The Man of Steel, the sequel to
Superman Returns.
IESB spoke to a source at Warner Brothers who confirmed Singer's involvement.
The story also provides insight as to who may be writing the script. Writers Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris, who wrote
Superman Returns, are out. So who is in? Well, the strong possibility is that the film will be written by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. The duo previously gained notice for their script writing on
Transformers.
The pair of writers have apparently had "several meetings" with Warner Brothers regarding the film.
Brandon Routh, who played Superman in
Superman Returns, has already confirmed that he will be returning for
Superman: The Man of Steel as well.

It is time to see a different take on Superman, even if it is under the same director (just make him read some of the comics this time).
Superman's costume can stay with the same style, but be given material and color modifications to make it look less cheesy than the 70's one. I saw no problems with the new one, though if you look at some of the concept work for the suit in Returns you get to see some pretty cool ideas that never made it to the screen. Believe it or not, there was actually on drawing that made the "underwear" work a lot better. I also like how Returns' Superman had a more slender build, but still had the necessary musculature. it made the character more majestic.
even if he dosen't return to do a new superman score, it would be wrong to change the opening theme. the opening credits were the best part of superman returns.
i hope it introduces the little kid with the superpowers
superman's son
I Agree on the super villians thing, leave kryptonite out of this one. Create some real tension, by haveing other beings just as powerfull as kal-el. Superman needs to be way more assertive than he was in returns, the worst thing he called lex was an old man.lol.
at least reeve called hackman an old diseased maniack. And in smallville Clark is often trying to keep his darkside in check, wich of course makes the character much more exciting and interesting.
Singer we need a much snappier script please, suspence, real looking bloody super battles, No unnessasery CGI superman, like in returns When he flys from the baseball stadium, just before he flys toward the sun to re'energise (which was a nice touch by the way) and just before the end credits most shameful of all close ups on the CGI superman.
we need to leave the cinema with a real feel good factor this time, please.
I mean, I know that "Superman Returns" looked a whole lot better, and that it was according to every reviewer out there I know of, but it seemed to be the same I've heard in regards to plot and style. I also read that Lex Luthor would return for the next Superman movie. Is that true?
Am I right on any of this?
