Debian++ Miniconf6 @ LCA2007
Here's the deal: LCA2007 runs from January 15th to January 20th 2007 and covers general Linux topics. The first two days are dedicated to Miniconfs, which are community-organised streams for specific areas of interest. The Debian Miniconf is the oldest and has been one of the biggest Miniconfs at LCA and has always attracted great speakers and an enthusiastic crowd of Debianistas. But times change, and this year I want to mix things up a little bit and see what happens. Debian has always been a popular platform for creating derived distributions. In many senses the enormous success of Debian is not just in the primary distribution itself but in its flexibility and adaptability as a platform for creating whole new distros. The official Debian distro itself is certainly very popular, but if you also factor in all its children you realise that collectively the greater Debian universe dominates the Linux landscape. So this year I want to expand the scope of the Debian Miniconf to become the Debian++ Miniconf: remaining focused on Debian, but also bringing in elements from the expanded Debian ecosystem such as derived distributions. So if you want to come to the Debian++ Miniconf just sign up for LCA2007 and come along for the fun! Transport / accomodation is up to you: please check the LCA2007 site if you need help. And if you have any suggestions for speakers or topics please send me an email. Cheers :-) Jonathan Oxer |
