ANZ is the most aggressive of the Australian major banks when
it comes to offshoring jobs. The ANZ has a fully owned subsidiary
in Bangalore and estimates that over 2000 jobs will be located
to Bangalore from Australia by 2008.
What Jobs Have Been Sent Offshore?
Operations Technology and Shared Services –
1100 jobs from Melbourne to Bangalore
Operations Excellence, Consumer and Biz Tech, Corporate &
Institutional Technology, Enterprise & Staff Technology,
Technology Infrastructure Services, Asia Pacific & Partnership
Technologies, ANZ Testing Centre, Esanda Technology, ePayables,
ePayables Helpdesk, e-Assets, Data Administration & Distribution,
Payroll Administration.
Key functions:
- Maintaining the banks IT platform
- Developing software solutions for various business units
to allow the processing of customer and bank information
- Details sent offshore include both encrypted and unencrypted
customer and staff data.
Payments and Institutional Operations and International
and High Value Services – 150 jobs from Melbourne to
Bangalore
Payments, Cash Transaction processing, Trade Finance Processing,
International Customer Payments and Nostro enquiries.
Roles include:
- Customer Enquiry and Payment Investigations, processing
transactions for ANZ’s largest Australian customers,
Letters of Credit and Collection Bills processing, high
– value international and domestic payments and transaction
processing.
- Customer details required include all account and financial
information and contact details.
Operations Personal Banking – 150 jobs from
Melbourne to Bangalore
Consumer Finance, Consumer Finance-Settlement & Controls,
Shared Utilities, Esanda Vehicles.
Key functions:
- Account opening, set up and maintenance of all consumer
and commercial credit card accounts including changes of
details, card limits, card insurance, direct debits, additional
card holders, closures etc. New business, Settlements and
control. Asset Finance, Processing, Customer Response, Standard
Lending.
- Customer details required – all details provided
to the bank or Esanda.
What the bank said in response to FSU at their most
recent AGM
- Will not rule out further Offshoring
- Does not support legislation giving consumers a ‘right
to know’ if their details are being accessed or processed
offshore.
- Will participate in an industry dialogue on the future
of skills and employment in finance.
