From here you can download and read the various drafts and shooting
scripts that were written to make each film in the STAR WARS
trilogy. From George Lucas's original 1973 story synopsis to the published
1983 version of Return of the Jedi, we have most of
them - unfortunately not a complete set (yet!). If you want to read
more about the scripts, go to The
Jedi Bendu Script List, a commented list for the true connoisseur
which lists ALL the scripts ever written for the Saga.
GEORGE LUCAS: "The way I work is that I cut the movie
together, I look at it and figure out what I'm missing. At that
point, it's more about how the movie flows together rather than
how the script flows together. I'm acknowledging more and more that
a script and a movie are two different things." (Quote from
Star
Wars: The Annotated Screenplays, 1997, p. 319)
