There's a lot of very cool technology out there for us geeks nowadays, but a lot of it is expensive and fills only a niche function. While phone service comes in many varieties, the vast majority of folks who have a cellphone or smartphone also have an expensive landline at home, etc., along with a broadband connection. But why pay the phone company its fees when you've got a VoIP alternative that combines high-tech with everyday use? We've got a review of the Vonage VoIP Solution for you that you must read if you're interested in saving money. Vonage works great, is extremely affordable, and offers a huge variety of features. A definite Geek.com Pick.

Internet connectivity is a must-have nowadays, so what should you do if you're carrying a PDA that doesn't have built-in wireless or isn't a smartphone? Check out our mini-review of Corsoft's Plug2Net, a simple software and IR interface solution to get your PDA on the 'Net. The software comes with some great customization options and a bunch of built-in dial-up numbers to common U.S. wireless carriers, so this can even be helpful if you take your connected PDA and cellphone out of your carrier's coverage area.

How in the world can anyone make a decision on what PDA to get nowadays? There are so many options in each of the many makes running each of many operating systems. The answer: lots of research, figuring out what feature(s) mean the most to you, and then gauging the cost. One great candidate for those looking for a built-in camera, expansion capabilities, and Wi-Fi connectivity is Sony's CLIÉ PEG-TJ37, an affordable handheld with great software, a decent camera, a nice screen, and excellent design. Check out our review.

What was once known as a questionable lunch meat and a fantastic Monty Python skit has taken on a terrible, evil, mind-agonizing connotation in the last few years, as unsolicited e-mails have clogged e-mailboxes and servers and brains ... Laws are being passed, but are they any good? Check out our newest rant, Sexually explicit spam law in effect for a topical look (and some topical doubt!) at the latest attempt to clean up our e-mail. Got something on your mind? Let us know!
