Set up a new Pixel phone for your child to use.

Set up a new Pixel for a child
- Turn on your new Pixel phone.
- Tap Get started.
- When prompted to transfer data from a previous device, tap Skip.

Prepare your childâs new Pixel
- Connect to a strong Wi-Fi network.
- To finish the device set up for your child, select For my child.

Log into your Google Account
As the parent or guardian, youâll be prompted to sign in with your Google Account.
- Enter your username and password.
- Tap Next.

Set up your childâs Google Account
- Select the child you want to set up the device for.
- Tap Next.
- Sign in with your childâs Google Account.
- Choose a parent or guardian who manages the device.
- Tap Next.
Tip: If the child you set up the phone for doesnât have a Google Account yet, tap Create account for my child.

Set up parental controls
You can start to set up parental controls for your childâs device.
- Tap Letâs do this.
- Review the supervision settings on your childâs device for:
- Google Play
- Google Chrome
- Google Search
- Tap to expand and choose settings.
- When youâre satisfied with the filters youâve chosen, tap Next.
- Review apps that come with the device.
- Uncheck the ones you donât want installed on your childâs device.
- Tap Next.

Set up supervision features
You can choose to set up daily screen time limits and nightly downtime for your childâs device.
- Tap Set up.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
To manage your childâs settings from the Family Link app on your own device, tap Install Next.
Tip: You can also adjust settings from the Parental Controls app on your childâs Pixel phone.

Finish setup
- Tap You got this.
- Review Google services and acknowledge them.
- Download a SIM for your childâs device. You can also choose to set up Google Assistant on their phone.
- When you finish the set up for your childâs Pixel phone, tap Letâs go.
Step 8 of 8
Your childâs Pixel phone has apps and widgets available to guide them. The Pixel phone includes a default wallpaper and contact widgets to easily contact a parent from the home screen.
As a parent or guardian, you can set up supervision features for your childâs Pixel with the Family Link app. With this app, you can:
- Create a downtime schedule.
- Set screen time limits.
- Monitor your childâs deviceâs location.
- Set app-specific limits.
- Manage your childâs Google Account.
