"A woman complained of another for disorderly conduct. Being interrogated, she said it was nothing, only the woman struck her on the head with a piece of wood. Defendant said it was nothing but fooling; she took this woman out of charity to do work when she ought to have done it herself.
"The case was continued for a witness who, it is said, can prove the sportive character of the assault."
• "Another woman case was brought up from the corner of Broad and St. Anthony streets. It began with a man pushing his wife down in another's house, then changed to an argument on religious subjects, in the course of which one woman called another 'a d----d English &c.' and ended in the woman in whose house it happened being fined $20 for keeping a disorderly house, and the one who behaved worst being fined $30, for which amount her bond was forfeited in her absence, and a third being let off because she was only fighting in her husband's defense."
• "BAY MINETTE, Ala., -- Report comes from Foley ... that 300 troops from Fort Morgan arrived at that place yesterday afternoon for the purpose of military maneuvers. ... Another body of troops is also expected at that place because by parties recently from the southern end of the county that the troops have been placed under orders to be ready of the convenience of the point to the Fort Barrancas, Fla. ... The general opinion is that they are taken to that place because of the convenience of the point to the Fort Morgan branch of the Louisville and Nashville in case the troops are to be called to the border of Mexico.
• "The church home lawn party which was given yesterday afternoon at the Barton Academy grounds by the Church home Guild proved a great success."
• "Tuesday the impossible happened -- right in Mobile.
"William Fouracre, technician of the American Television Institute, pushed a gadget in a tiny booth at the Roche Home Equipment Company at 256 Dauphin Street and through the medium of a scientific marvel ... flashed a living picture over an ordinary telephone wire.

• "Officials of the Mobile Junior League announced Tuesday that 'open house' will be held at its City Hospital clinic Friday morning between 9 o'clock and noon. Young women of the league devote a portion of their time to work in the clinic as part of their child welfare work."

• "Mobile Police Chief Talley Rollings announced Friday night plans for a Canine Corps to aid patrolmen in reduction of burglaries and other police action.
"One dog -- a young 75-pound German shepherd named Scrappy -- was on duty Friday night in the docket room at City Jail."
