Started my working life as a TV Engineer, had a short spell with reprographics, emigrated from Bournemouth to Perth Western Australia then moved on to video walls and projection systems along with PA systems in large-scale venues and stadia throughout Australia. I wrote my own service programme in Dbase3plus in the 1980’s. My business partner died and I decided to go back to school. Did a three-year full-time course on Networking and System Administration, also train the trainer. Trained new taxi drivers on fortnight’s course, driving a taxi at week-ends. Became training manager at Swan Taxis then started new company importing leisure trailers from France to Australia. After medical issues, repatriated back to Bournemouth and drove a taxi for a while before retiring fully. First install of Linux was in 1996 a Slackware version if I remember correctly.
